On August 26, 2025, both Guangzhou and Shenzhen celebrated the official opening of their first downtown duty-free stores, marking a milestone in the evolution of retail within Southern China. These new stores not only bring international luxury and lifestyle brands closer to local shoppers but also introduce innovative retail models—combining duty-free and taxable goods, online and offline experiences, and instant cloud-based tax refunds.
Shenzhen Downtown Duty-Free: A Key Municipal Project
The Shenzhen Downtown Duty-Free Shop, located at UpperHills in Futian District, has been recognized as a key municipal project. The first phase covers 1,212 m², making it an important cornerstone of Shenzhen’s ambition to elevate its urban commercial landscape. The store features curated sections including luxury fashion, high-end watches & whisky, skincare & spa, and a technology corridor showcasing Shenzhen’s leading tech brands.
WeiLin’s Contribution
WeiLin is honored to have been entrusted with the production and installation of displays and fixtures for this landmark project. Despite an extremely challenging timeline of just one and a half months, our team successfully completed all production and on-site installation work. The process demanded countless late nights, rapid coordination, and seamless collaboration across departments.
